"The Breast is Better"... or is it?
We all enjoy a cold, mouth watering cone of ice cream on those hot sweltering days when the sun decides to fry us... but would you enjoy it just as much if you knew you were eating a creation made with breast milk substituted for cow's milk? Now, I don't have anything against people for animals' rights. I occasionally cry when I see a poor little raccoon get run over, or get mad when I hear about abuse against poor helpless dogs (get some anger management, don't take it out on man's best friend!!). I can't say that a tear falls everytime I bite into a hamburger becuase you have to admit they're pretty damn good, but i think PETA might have gone just a little too far with animal rights with this whole breast milk deal. PETA recently requested to Ben & Jerry's that they use human breast milk instead of milk from a cow because it would "lessen the suffering of dairy cows and their babies on factory farms and benefit human health" (Click here to read the article). How much do the cows really suffer when you get milk? They're producing milk anyways, and it's not like the babies aren't getting what they need. Plus, I think the idea that your revisiting memories of an infant while biting into your delicious(?) ice cream isn't very appealing. It ruins the refreshing feeling we all enjoy from a cold treat on a hot day.

Wow! I love animals too, but that is so stupid. Cow have to be milked! If they aren't it hurts them and eventually they would die! So, if we have to milk them anyway why don't we use the milk for something productive (I consider Ben&Jerry's as being very productive)instead of just getting rid of it.
First off, I agree that PETA is a wildly stupid organization, and as an animal rights activist I refuese to associate with them. They are poor protesters, they objectify women in their campaigns ( an example would be the "State of the Union Undress", a video that surfaces around the time of the presidential State of The Union Adress in which a young woman undresses as she states the agenda of PETA for that given year.) It's quite disgusting. However, the point of this post is that I would like to clarify the nature of factory farm milk production. They don't just produce the milk all willy-nilly. An impregnation has to ensue. It's totally involuntary for the cow as it is done by a farmer with a glove ( The man's arm goes all the way in up to the elbow!) The cows are not allowed to roam free and are kept in small cages for maximum space efficiency. It all boils down to a mass rape to exploit a defenseless being for something that isn't really intended for our own bodies. As for the calves, they are usually sold or shipped to veal farms within twenty-four hours of birth. Veal farms, happen to be one of the cruelest establishments ever created by man. The infant cow is chained into an area so small that it is unable to turn around. This makes the meat "tender". They live like this for three months before slaughter. There is absolutely no reason for a sentient being to suffer in that manner.
